Annual Fall Exhibition and Sale
List of Exhibitors Brochures Press Releases
"More than Cloth" is an exhibition of excellent work created by members of the The Ottawa Valley Weavers and Spinners Guild. Once again they will be producing their annual show and sale at the Glebe Community Centre at 175 Third Avenue in Ottawa. Opening night is Oct. 31 from 4 o'clock until 8 and it is always a special time. The show is also open Sat. Nov. 1 from 10am to 5pm and Sun Nov. 2 from 10am to 4 pm.
This year the Guild has arranged for free parking behind Corpus Christie School located on the corner across from the community centre. There will be signs to direct you to the parking. Please note that the parking does not start on Friday night until 6pm. Otherwise parking is available during the same hours as the show.
Not only is parking free but admission to this show in contrast to other art and craft shows is completely free. What good value! Don't miss the many demonstrations and presentations by guild members of everything from spinning new and traditional fibres to weaving on floor looms. You might want to join the weavers guild yourself!
As the years pass this show gets better and better and this year promises to be a red letter event! The theme of the show is "More than Cloth" which is a brilliant concept as those who will display their work have so much to be proud of. Each artist has married basic textile skills with their own vision and life experience to present to you an amazing and diverse display of the possibilities that we humans can pursue with sheep fleece, fibre from soy, plam, alpaca, and goats using very simple tools often without the benefit of electricity.
Find the perfect gift for everyone on your holiday list including yourself. You will see wonderful clothing and accessories, not to mention toys, tapestries, household items, little personal gifts like bookmarks and beautiful imaginative decorations.
