At any other time you can obtain a key for the building and Resource Centre from one of the key holders. The current list of key holders is available to members from the membership convenor.
The OVWSG offers many courses and workshops in weaving, spinning, and dying, for very reasonable fees. Well-known instructors have provided us with invaluable knowledge and information over the years. The workshops have proven to be very popular, and many of our own members have the expertise to conduct many of the workshops offered.
Periodically, we have a Fun Day at the Resource Centre. This is a chance to get together informally, to chat, share ideas and learn from each other. Bring whatever you're working on.
If you'd like to learn something new or would like to borrow someone else's equipment for the day, you can post a message ahead of time on the Yahoo newsgroup.
Some ideas for things to do at the Fun Day:
- Drum carding
- microwave dyeing
- wool combing
- trying out other people's spinning wheels and drop spindles
- help for beginning spinners and weavers
- reading the library books
- spinning new fibres (silk, flax, soy silk, ingeo)
- sharing samples of different kinds of fibres
- spinning finer/thicker
- knitting techniques
- card weaving
- inkle weaving
