Drum carding

Drum carding

Description: As a Spinner, you get to decide what type of yarn you want to spin. This is a series of short workshops meant to expand your spinning horizons. Each topic will have you sampling a specific fibre and combining a different fibre preparation method with a particular spinning technique, to produce a yarn for a specific finished project. The goal is to break out of your comfort zone and see the kind of spinning future you can create for yourself. In this session we will be working with a homogenous blend of angora, a drum carder and long draw to learn how to produce a woolen style yarn suitable for knitted mittens.

Prerequisite: Spinning 2 – Wheel or able to spin a continuous yarn on a wheel.

Students should bring: A well-tuned spinning wheel, any fibre preparation tools that you may have.

Materials fee: Approximately $25 includes all materials required for the workshop.
