Working with fleece

THIS WORKSHOP HAS BEEN CANCELLED due to restrictions in gathering to slow the spread of coronovirus.  Registered Students will be refunded.

Description:  Go from a raw, grease fleece to spinning your own yarn.  We will walk through the process of how to evaluate a fleece, how to sort, skirt, and washing methods.  Explore a variety of sheep fleece types/grades while learning how to use their specific characteristics to determine options for preparing the fibre to spin.  This will be a very hands on class.

Prerequisite: Spinning 2 – Wheel or able to spin a continuous yarn on a wheel

Students should bring:  A well-tuned spinning wheel, any fibre preparation tools that you may have (such as hand carders, a dog comb, a flick carder, etc.) and solid shoes (no sandals).

Materials fee: Approximately $25 includes grease fleece, various grades of washed wool (natural & dyed), other fibre for blending.

NOTE: Reserved Tickets are intended for specific individuals such as those on a waiting list. Please do not use a reserved ticket unless you have been directed to do so by the Workshops Registrar
