Description: The idea behind this class is to get you to explore some of the ideas and techniques available for making multi-coloured or variegated yarns using natural dyes. My aim is to get you to think and plan for your results rather than just following a set of instructions. Don’t be scared of it, have fun. The instructions here assume you want a fairly specific result, but you can always just improvise also. There are no wrong answers. Maybe something won’t be quite what you pictured, but chances are that it will still be attractive, (and if not, overdyeing can always transform a blah skein into something more interesting).

Prerequisite: None

Students should bring: Closed shoes, medium to heavy rubber gloves, wear old clothes or apron. Can bring a small project to work on during possible downtime between baths.

Materials Fee: $25
